Book Description

The rules: no kissing on the mouth, no staying the night, no telling anyone, and above all… No falling in love

Anna Jones just wants to finish college and figure out her life. Falling for star quarterback Drew Baylor is certainly not on her to do list. Confident and charming, he lives in the limelight and is way too gorgeous for his own good. If only she could ignore his heated stares and stop thinking about doing hot and dirty things with him. Easy, right?

Too bad he’s committed to making her break every rule…

Football has been good to Drew. It’s given him recognition, two National Championships, and the Heisman. But what he really craves is sexy yet prickly Anna Jones. Her cutting humor and blatant disregard for his fame turns him on like nothing else. But there’s one problem: she’s shut him down. Completely.

That is until a chance encounter leads to the hottest sex of their lives, along with the possibility of something great. Unfortunately, Anna wants it to remain a hook up. Now it’s up to Drew to tempt her with more: more sex, more satisfaction, more time with him. Until she’s truly hooked. It’s a good thing Drew knows all about winning.

All’s fair in love and football…Game on

Review

This is the first book I read by Kristen Callihan and it made me add her other books to my TBR list immediately.

Within the first chapter, I found myself sucked back into undergrad right alongside Anna and Drew. Their immediate connection made for sexual tension from the very beginning. Doing this could’ve been plot suicide, but Callihan runs with it and ratchets up the tension with each encounter and pushes her characters to react even if they don’t want to. She breathes life into Anna and Drew as they fumble with their feelings for each other and how they fit in their preconception of relationships learned from their parents’ marriages.

As someone who is not really into football, it was interesting to read a story about a leading college quarterback on the cusp of being drafted into the NFL. It was great to read Drew’s POV as he struggles to balance his academics and football with his desire to claim Anna as his own.

When I read the summary of this book, I was expecting an interesting if tame plot with some plain old sex. Boy was I wrong! The sex is hot, hot, hot! When Drew starts talking dirty, I got an instant lady boner. That man has a way with words and a way with using his skilled hands!

With the hot sex aside, the plot goes beyond tame with the witty, flirty and sometimes goofy banter between Anna and Drew. I was blushing and laughing right along with them through their antics and at times awkward moments. I thoroughly enjoyed reading their story. I really appreciated how complete the story felt. It was well rounded and thoroughly satisfying.
