Book Review – Beneath This Mask

Location, Location, Location!

While in New Orleans, we decided to stay in the French Quarter so we could soak up as much of the flavor of NOLA and its night life as we could in the four short days we were there. One of my favorite spots was Jackson Square (pictured above). With the horses and carriages lined out front, the stunning Saint Louis Cathedral looks like a castle at dusk. When I read about wandering the streets of New Orleans in Meghan March’s Beneath This Mask, I knew I had to see it for myself too!

Review

I really enjoyed Beneath this Mask. This was my first Meghan March book and she has made her way to my “must read anything she comes out with” list! I’ve powered through the books of this series a day for each. Fast paced, mysterious, and hot, this book is definitely a must-read…like right now!

March has a way of creating dynamic and realistic characters. Simon was male perfection. He knew what he wanted and wasn’t afraid to be blunt about it. He didn’t play games and thank the book gods for that! Charlie was sexy and sassy with a no bullshit attitude. She has finally come into herself and though she may hide behind her ink, she’s not willing to retreat from her new self.

“Just f*ck me already, Simon. Jesus.” So much for romance.

He grinned and thrust. The porn star moan could not be held back as he stretched me deliciously.

“Holy shit,” I gasped.

Simon nuzzled my neck and nipped my ear. “So greedy. Can’t a guy take it slow and enjoy the ride?” I writhed against him, already feeling another orgasm building just from the friction of our bodies. but I needed him to move.

“Too much talking. Not enough f*cking.”

[p.136-137]

Though this was a fantastic story, there are of course some things I would’ve liked to see. More information surrounding Charlie’s past with her parents and her friends would have rounded out her character more. I also would have liked to read more about her tattoos and their significance. However, overall I really liked this book and its New Orleans backdrop.
